| Do not wait until the first hot day in summer to check out the air
conditioner. Make sure to change the filters in the furnace before it
sits all summer long. |
Smoke Detectors & Carbon Monoxide Detectors |
| Check these devices to ensure they are working properly by pressing the
"test" button. It is also important to change the batteries - do not
let them run dry. |
Siding |
| Closely examine your siding and pay special attention to cracks or
other damage that may be present. Wind can also catch the seams and
corners, which leads to tearing. This tearing can ultimately result in
extensive water damage when water leaks into the wall cavity. |
Roof/Shingles |
| Harsh winters with extreme temperatures and heavy snowfalls can damage your roof. Make sure to examine your roof for missing or broken shingles after the last snowfall has melted. Damage to your roof is a recipe for disaster; it is best to repair or replace shingles before it is too late.

Gutters |
Clear gutters of leaves and all other debris. Make sure your gutters are secured and the downspout extension and splash pad is fully intact and placed correctly so water flows away from your home.

Outdoor Grill |
| If you did not thoroughly clean your grill since last year, give it some special attention before using it again. An abundance of leftover baked-on grease can cause a flame larger than expected. Make sure to move the grill away from the house or garage while in use. Lastly, double check that it is off and cooled down before covering it up.
